Thermal imaging devices are a must have for targeted individuals. They are, as a fellow Targeted Individual once said, a game changer. They help in especially the need to know whether one's home is being hit with directed energy weapons (DEW) and the direction from which the attack is coming from. They enable us to see the attacks. Advanced models also enable one to see beyond walls so that it becomes possible to know if someone is standing in a next room firing directed energies at one.
Traditional methods of detecting assaults with DEW are based on detectors that have the advantage over thermal imaging cameras of making it possible to tell if one is under attack and how intense it is. In the case of frequency counters, it is possible to ascertain the frequency being used and it's intensity too. Combined with charting, one can learn of the patterns to the assaults.
Detectors also help in ascertaining whether shields are effective. Faraday cages, for example, can be checked for leaks using detectors and it is possible to find out what frequencies are getting through and which aren't. Thermal imaging cameras or the alternate infrared will not let you know whether a shield is effective. Inside a Faraday cage, a thermal imaging device will only show if the cage is being hit and where, but not always whether the beams are getting through. For that, there has to be some fidgeting around or improvisation.

The drawback to detectors over thermal imagers is firstly their limited range. If attacks are launched using frequencies beyond the detection rage of the detector, then it simply won't detect them. You will discern the assaults but there will be nothing showing on the detector.
Also, detectors usually will not let you know the direction from which the attack is coming from and, in the case of those that do show the direction of attack, they won't do this reliably. They will give the general direction of the attack and you will be left to figure out, mostly using improvisation, where the exact spot is that the directed energies are entering your domain.
Most Detector's have the advantage over thermal and infrared cameras of alert. If left on, they will alert you to incoming fire and sometimes you will be alerted to the strength of it. You are as such warned and can take evasive measures as per your routine.

Thermal Imagers allow targeted individuals to see attacks, which detectors don't, but are better when used in combination with detectors.
Thermal Imagers detect DEW attacks on the basis that directed energies interact with materials they go through regardless they are metallic or not. They either heat them up, or cool them down in the case of some infrasound and ultrasound frequencies. The heated spots show up as yellow to red, while the cool spots show up as blue. They detect the heat from heated objects behind walls because heat also travels by radiation through wall material and can be picked up by the camera on the other side. In tests using my camera, I found out that only heated objects near or right next to walls are seen while the rest are drowned out by the radiation from the wall itself. I guess I would have to own a more powerful camera to be able to see details beyond the wall but then it is enough to be able to see just the other side of a wall. Should there be a perp wielding a DEW further behind a wall than I can see then they will be obvious once they start firing the weapon due to the beam's interaction with the wall.
For targeted individuals with the means, the best policy is to go all the way and acquire all the technologies that the targeting program is using to target us. Through the wall viewing technologies are available at retail outlets and etc. DEWs are also available. Let's be serious about this: we are being warred upon and it is best to respond as people in a deadly war. Sitting in our homes clasping limited detectors won't help us survive this. We are better off meeting our assailants on equal terms. They have the overwhelming advantage of being a military against isolated civilians but given they have to keep it covert, it remains possible to keep them at bay with advanced technology given they have to abide by the limitation of keeping it hush hush and we want them exposed.
I think I am one of the first Targeted Individuals that's ventured outside the realm of what TIs are traditionally advised to acquire to detect attacks as a way of exposing, stopping, if not ameliorating them. I am sharing the proof of actual DEW attacks seen with technology capable of this. I am posting this proof on various platforms but then, as one person doing this, I am easily silenced or shadow banned.
It is a different story if this approach is more common in the targeted individual community. Then, the cretins would have their hands full.
