The Secret of the Two Horse Race

The title is in reference to the political system whose roots lie in the USA, a system where, unbeknownst to the voting public, the same people, bound by the same ideology, serving the same masters, take position as two opponents in two differently named parties.

The stability that this arrangement gives to the corporate venture, given governments are mere instruments of corporate policy, has been the basis for its adoption by almost all nations, from Europe right down to the least developed countries in Africa.

The most important role, the one that really does the trick of keeping the masses asleep, is played by the leader. Below is an apt quote from George Orwell's 1984 that sums it up nicely:

Big Brother is the guise in which the party chooses to exhibit itself to the world. His function is to act as a focusing point for love, fear, and reverence, emotions which are more easily felt towards an individual than towards an organization.
This quote only provides the true picture if I add the following: After making major transgressions that the masses get onto, after rubbing the people the wrong way, the powers that be can start all over, on a clean slate, so to speak, because the faults of the moment recede into the past with the defeated, impeached or deposed political leader to whom they are attached.

The system would not last without this constant renewal.

Revolution: Why it is so near, yet so far.

Reflection on the ongoing social upheavals in the Middle East, referred to by many as revolutions or, more extremely, as the Islamic Awakening, is apt for the subject matter of this blog.

Many have lost their lives already, more are going to, while many are being tortured and mutilated as I write this. So far, regimes have been toppled, while the future of others hangs in the balance.

One thing is becoming very clear as the days role into the future, and it is that the ultimate desire of the rising masses to topple an oppressive order of international proportions is not going to be met. The obstacle to victory is nationalism: there are too many powerful players with their feet in the common people's business. They have rallied and are applying the bet on, support or influence the winning horse formula. The masses that could very easily have dealt with the issue had it retained its national parameters are out-performed by a force that is international.

The only way that has in it the prospect of success for aspirations that are by the way currently internationally held, is to meet the opponents on equal terms, i.e. revolution everywhere. It is impossible for interfering forces to continue in this role if they were encumbered on the home front as well.

A Message for PayPal.

I have deleted the main text of this post because the purpose for which it served has expired. PayPal lifted all restrictions on my account yesterday.

I must make it clear that, by posting the message here, I was not under the impression that PayPal is in any way involved with, or influenced by the purveyors of the covert warfare that is the subject matter of this website.

The post was a way to identify myself as the account holder to PayPal, after all else had apparently failed.
